THE ESSENTIALs

Are you new to the plant-based journey or looking for tips to refresh your plant-based lifestyle?

This Mini-guide can help you!

Let’s Start with your Why?

As a collection of plant-based women who love food, we know how hard it can seem to give up some of your favorite, most comforting recipes and meals. It can feel discouraging, and you might ask yourself: why am I doing this again?

Having a clear 'why' to lean on during the hard days is essential. That's why it’s the first question of this guide.

The biggest hurdle in switching to a plant-based lifestyle is shifting your mindset about the foods you eat—and why you eat them.

There are so many reasons to go plant-based: for your health, for the animals, because you just feel like it. Whatever your reasons, be clear about them. Write your 'why' down or save it on your phone so you can easily access it when you’re having a tough day and need encouragement.

Take a moment to think about your why.

Shifting your Mindset

Now that you have your why, let’s talk about shifting your mindset around plant-based foods. It’s easy to focus on what you can’t do, but we challenge you to focus on what you **can** do.

How you can take what is familiar and comforting, and apply it to this new space in your life. You aren’t missing out, you are expanding your palate and experiencing new things.

Reward yourself

So, you are clear on your why and have aligned your mindset to embrace the changes. Now what? It’s time to make a plan to succeed. A good way is to set up check-ins along the way and a nice reward.

Now, Let’s talk about your pantry.

Set Your Pantry up for Success

Having a good pantry and kitchen setup is key. You want to go into your pantry and be able to whip something together easily using the cookware available to you in your kitchen. When thinking about what you can have in your kitchen to set yourself up for success, focus first on things that you enjoy eating. Get to know the flavors and ingredients you love, then build your pantry and kitchen staples around them.

For example, we love dishes made with fresh garlic and a bit of spice. On the sweeter side, we love warming spices. So, if we were to start from scratch, these are some items we would immediately restock in our kitchens. (Of course, there are tons more. But these are the staples) Some you might find familiar, and others might be new.
